About Us
Global Green Shield Foundation Inc. was established to serve as a catalyst for sustainable environmental and social transformation in Liberia and beyond. Recognizing that environmental degradation, poverty, poor health outcomes and inequality are interconnected, the Foundation adopts an integrated approach that addresses these issues simultaneously.
The Foundation works with rural and urban communities to conserve biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience, promote gender equality, safeguard children, improve access to health education, and enhance community capacity. Its programmes are implemented in partnership with public institutions, local organizations, development partners and community leaders to ensure local ownership and long-term sustainability.
Our Story
Liberia possesses one of West Africa’s most significant remaining tropical forest ecosystems, yet many communities continue to experience environmental degradation, economic hardship, limited healthcare, and social inequality. Women and children often bear a disproportionate share of these challenges.
Global Green Shield Foundation was created from the belief that environmental protection and human development must progress together. By empowering communities to become stewards of their natural resources while expanding opportunities for women, children and young people, the Foundation seeks to create lasting, inclusive development. Its programmes are built on participation, evidence, accountability and collaboration, ensuring that beneficiaries are active partners in shaping sustainable solutions.
Our Vision
A world where communities thrive in harmony with nature, and every woman and child lives with dignity, safety, equal opportunity, and hope. The Foundation envisions resilient communities that protect biodiversity, promote social justice, enjoy improved health and education, and participate fully in sustainable economic development.
Our Mission
To promote environmental sustainability while advancing the rights, dignity, health and well-being of vulnerable women, children and communities through inclusive, community-driven, rights-based initiatives. The Foundation delivers integrated programmes that conserve the environment, strengthen public health, advance gender equality, protect children, build institutional capacity and create sustainable livelihoods.
